SpriteLight
Terms
Last updated 22 September 2026
SpriteLight generates normal maps from pixel art. These are the terms for using it. They are short because the service is simple.
The service
You upload a sprite or a sprite sheet, pick a model, and get a normal map back. We process the image and discard it; our privacy page explains that in detail. The service is run by SpriteLight, based in Norway, and you can reach us at hello@spritelight.com.
Your art
What you upload is yours, and so is what comes out. We claim no rights to your sprites or to the normal maps we generate from them. You may use the maps in any project, commercial or not, without crediting us. Upload only art you have the right to use.
Free credits
A new account starts with a small number of free credits, once. We may change that number. They are for trying the service, not for running a pipeline on it, and one person should have one account.
Accounts
An account is your email address. You sign in with a link or code we email you, or through Google or Apple. Keep your email account secure; anyone who can read it can sign in as you. One person, one account.
Credits
A credit is one 64×64 sprite. Larger images cost more in proportion to their area: a 64×128 image is two credits, a 128×128 is four, and a full 1024×1024 sheet is 256. The price is shown in Studio before anything is sent. Which model you pick makes no difference, and running the same image through other models within a few minutes is free. Adjusting the strength slider or downloading again costs nothing.
Credits are tied to your account, cannot be transferred, and have no cash value.
Subscriptions
Hobby and Pro are monthly subscriptions. Each month you are billed, your balance is set to the plan's allowance — 5,000 credits for Hobby, 50,000 for Pro. Unused credits do not carry over to the next month.
You can cancel at any time from your Stripe receipt or by writing to us. The subscription then ends at the close of the period you have paid for, and any credits left at that point expire with it. Upgrading from Hobby to Pro takes effect at the next billing.
Payment and refunds
Payments are handled by Stripe, which acts as the seller of record: the charge on your card and your receipt come from Stripe, and Stripe takes care of VAT and sales tax. Prices are in US dollars; tax is added at checkout where it applies. By subscribing you ask us to make the credits available immediately.
If you subscribed and have not used any credits, you can ask for a full refund of that payment within 14 days. Once credits have been used, the payment is final, except where the service failed to deliver what you paid for — then write to us and we will put it right.
Fair use
Don't try to get around the free limit, share an account, scrape the service, or use it in a way that stops it working for others. We may limit or close accounts that do. Don't upload anything illegal.
What we promise, and what we don't
We work to keep the service up and the results good, but it is a small service and we do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every map will look the way you want. Models change over time; older ones stay available for a while but not forever.
To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country.
Changes and law
If these terms change, the date at the top changes and the new terms apply to purchases made after that date. Norwegian law applies. Questions go to hello@spritelight.com.
